Biography
Cameron Ryan had the stereotypical "normal" childhood. Raised through most of his impressionable years by a single mother, he grew up respecting and admiring women. He knows who his father is, but has never had contact with him. He liked to skateboard with his friends in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. His mother relocated the family after accepting a job teaching at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut, where she met John Childers. They were married two years later.
Life in New Haven was a lot different than Pennsylvania. Cameron and his sister were enrolled at Hopkins, a private school with a strict curriculum. They were immediately accepted into the more popular circle. The biggest takeaway Cameron got from the school, however, was his involvement in the Film classes, where he discovered his passion for cinema, both creating and editing. He maintained a weekly video blog throughout his senior year that received hundreds of views each week, mostly talking about his life and cataloging his feelings about college. He was also active in the broadcasting class, where he acted as a news anchor, doing the daily announcements in the morning.
He went on to study cinema at NYU, against the 'recommendations' of his parents, who had basically covered his room in Yale pennants and posters since his junior year. They thought film school was just another plea for attention and mentioned it any time he called home, so eventually he stopped calling everyone but his sister, who supported him in his decision. He maintained the video blog, which gained even more popularity when he started becoming more social and active in the college party scene. He graduated Summa Cum Laude with his Bachelor's, and his senior project went on to the Sundance Film Festival, where it garnered a little buzz, then promptly died.
Currently, he works in New York City editing and operating the camera for a film company. He has a six month old pug named Loki and a beta fish named Tattoo that he thinks might outlive him.
Personality
Cameron is like a duck. On the surface, he's calm and just floating along with the current. Underneath, he's kicking wildly and trying to maintain balance in every aspect of his life, because he's sort of a control freak. His neat appearance is a manifestation of that, but he doesn't think less of people who aren't the same. He is volatile, sometimes needing solitude and sometimes needing to be the center of attention. There is really no way to predict which side of him you're talking to when a conversation starts.
He craves change and movement, either emotionally or physically, but he has come to enjoy his apartment and likes coming home to it, mostly because everything in it is there deliberately.
He can be really spontaneous. He sometimes makes decisions without thinking them through all the way, then has too much pride and ambition to admit that he's made a mistake. He is sensitive to criticism and is likely to keep things that might earn him some a secret. When he's calm and puts his mind to something, he is almost unstoppable.
Cameron likes to surround himself with people, all of different backgrounds. He is very social and was popular in school. He has had one serious relationship and has since not allowed himself to get too involved/put stakes in any one person, place or thing.
He is creative and expressive, which perhaps could explain his affinity for film. He can be rather self-centered, however. He has a nearly photographic memory, which leads him to sometimes holding grudges for far longer than is necessary, even off of imagined slights.
